Cunard's longest serving flagship ocean liner, the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) is photographed by Commander Ron's brother as it made a port of call in Liverpool. It departed Southampton on November 1st destined for Dubai arriving on November 27th, where it will be turned into a floating hotel, retail and entertainment destination.

While in service it logged more that 5.6 million nautical miles, the equivalent to traveling to the moon and back thirteen times.

Commander Ron.

The QE2 sailed its maiden voyage May 2, 1969, and was the first ship of its size and kind the world had seen. Built for $68.9 million and christened by Queen Elizabeth, the ship has a sturdy hull and sleek bow to break through the North Atlantic waves at high speeds. It traveled summer months between New York and Southampton and spent winters in warmer climates.
